Slite is manufactured at Machine No. 3 of Hokuetsu Corporation’s Nagaoka mill. It was jointly developed by a publisher, an art materials manufacturer, and Hokuetsu Corporation to enhance the expressive performance and writing feel of coloured pencils and other art materials.

Its development involved repeated laboratory and production-line testing, quality checks, and improvements to raw materials and manufacturing processes. Slite is used in adult colouring books, a popular category that attracts many colouring enthusiasts.

In Yamamoto Paper writing tests, even low-viscosity inks stayed on the surface without spreading or bleeding through. The paper’s gently rough texture also provides a particularly pleasant tactile sensation through the pen nib.
